China Team is strengthened by Tag Heuerss

Jean-Christophe BABIN, CEO of Tag Heuer and WANG Chaoyong, president of China Team, Monday 2nd of April, made official Tag Heuer’s increased support within China Team, the first Chinese representatives in the history of the America’s Cup..

First of all, for China Team, this decision provides answers to performance requirements. A series of technical developments are foreseen on LONGTZE (CHN95), the new Chinese boat christened in Valencia this last March 6th. LONGTZE will be the race boat for China Team during the Louis Vuitton Cup starting April 16th in Valencia.

This reinforcement of links between Tag Heuer and China Team will equally allow developing in China new sports, technical and promotional operations at the end of the 32nd America’s Cup.

Tag Heuer is the very first partner to have joined China Team, in March 2005. Present on the boom and the transom, Tag Heuer will now be visible on the hull of LONGTZE where they will join Lladro, another historical partner in the first Chinese participation in the America’s Cup.

Wang Chaoyong, president of China Team
“It is a mutual decision to increase the strength of the team and further develop the potential of LONGTZE, before the start of the Louis Vuitton Cup. Tag Heuer is the first historical partner of China Team. It is the first brand that has joined us after the creation of the team in March 2005. We are very honored by this show of confidence and are happy to deepen this relationship which began two years ago. For us, it is a sign of a solid and common will which commits us to a long term process. Together we share the ambition to construct a benchmark team with sights on the 33rd America’s Cup.”

Xavier de LESQUEN, executive director.
“It is an important step, for China Team, for Tag Heuer and for LONGTZE. We have put into place a common plan to develop the potential of LONGTZE. LONGTZE showed excellent reliability during its first two weeks of sailing and we are completely satisfied by the architectural choices and construction of the boat in Dong Guan. We can now focus our time and efforts on detailed development of the boat. The development of our activities in China is next. Our objective is to return to China immediately after the end of the 32nd edition, where we will work with, as we have already done, Lladro and Chivas, our other principle partners, to further the sporting, technical, promotional programs and events in China.

Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO TAG Heuer,
“TAG Heuer has always appreciated respected and supported the most audacious and courageous challenges in terms of a partner for watch making. Even though China Team holds one of the weakest budgets in the upcoming competition, the team has reached a remarkable performance level notably thanks to its new hull constructed in China. At this stage, it is TAG Heuer’s duty to bring in additional support so that these extraordinary efforts can finish with a totally homogenous and successful boat.
